With the advent of social media, online marketing and engagement focused communications, it is suicide to sound like a traditional broadcast ad when engaging with your audience.

By Jonathan Cook A recent assignment of mine covering Israel’s presumed links to the assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh provoked some more thoughts about the New York Times reporter Ethan Bronner. He is the Jerusalem bureau chief who has been at the centre of a controversy since it was revealed last month that his son is serving in the Israeli army. Despite mounting pressure to replace Bronner, the NYT’s editors have so far refused to consider that he might be facing a conflict of interest or that it would be wiser to post him elsewhere. Last week, when suspicion for the assassination in Dubai started to fall on the Mossad, a newspaper editor emailed to ask if I could ring up my “Israeli security contacts” for fresh leads. It was a reminder that Western correspondents in Israel are expected to have such contacts. The point was underlined later the same day when I spoke with a leftwing Israeli academic to get his take on Mabhouh’s killing. I had turned to this Ashkenazi…

“Unlike overt propaganda films like “The Eternal Jew,” a notorious screed, “Jew Süss” was a commercial release, a hit that was seen by more than 20 million and featured some of the top stars of the day. So the issue of Harlan’s motivations has various possible answers, all of which Mr. Moeller’s film ponders without favoring one over another.
Mr. Moeller, 44, came to the “Jew Süss” project with an unusually broad set of skills and qualifications. He has a doctorate in history, has written several articles for scholarly journals on the arts during the Nazi period, served as a historical adviser to feature films, and also directed a pair of other documentaries on German film figures who lived through the Third Reich. “

ENGAGEMENT?? Dont ever spend big money on a "Supposed to happen" event….she can change her mind, not marry, and KEEP the ring……wait til after the wedding, then go buy the big expensive ring….
Are you in a two-year college? If you are, you might as well plan on using that experience to get into a 4-year institution and earn a Bachelor's degree, at least. I can't think of much you can do with an Associates– in that way, I'd say your boyfriend has your back. On the other hand, DO NOT even think about having kids with him before getting married. Why would he imagine doing that on purpose? It sounds like he doesn't want to commit until there's nothing else left but to walk down the aisle and even then, would his heart really be in it?
You're young and by the time you grow and change through your next few years of schooling you may not be the same girl he fell in love with and he may not be the same guy you fell in love with. Just wait and see what happens. Don't rush into anything.
As people have said, an engagement ring is given at the point a couple decide they are going to get married. It's a way of signalling that the woman is "taken" and no longer free to have boyfriends.
The tradition of engagement rings began in ancient Rome – have a look at this page if you want the full story :
and in those days there were no such things as wedding rings – the engagement ring also acted as a wedding ring. Originally the e-ring was plain metal; diamonds didn't become popular till the 17th Century.
In those days, it was the man who did all the buying and giving, the women had nothing at all to do with it. Women these days may see that as being too 'macho' – most women want to have some say in what kind of ring they will get. After all, she will be wearing it for the rest of her life. Choosing it together is a sign that you want to share the decisions in your married life.
As for whether women prefer a family ring or not, that's a matter of personal choice. My step-daughter has just been given her grandmother's ring, but that's because she and her fiance can't afford their own ring at the moment. When they can, she wants her own and I think these days most women do.
In terms of wedding rings, again I think most couples nowadays would prefer to choose these together. Styles often have 'his' and 'hers' and it's nice for husband and wife to have similar rings.
But it's really mostly a matter of personal choice. My best advice would be to ask your fiancee what she would like best.
Mach Punch.
Definitely white gold or platinum with diamonds, but not too many though. Simple is best
