   I have my heart set on a 3 stone ring for my engagement ring too. The three-stone ones are so gorgeous!

   Traditionally, 3-stones are for anniversaries or something. But there’s nothing wrong. Who says you have to get a traditional engagement ring that looks like everyone else’s? After all… you are the one who has to wear it on your left hand the rest of your life – it’s going to suck if you didn’t get the one you wanted because you decided to follow some “rule.”

   And I think the past present future theme is perfect, if you are looking for a justification… The past when you met and dated, the present [[when he is proposing]], and the future of your lives together.

   Get the good-looking 3-stone hunny.

   Yes, I got one for my engagement and its beautiful, I get compliments on it all the time and they are not huge rocks. An engagement ring can be any type of stone. setting or metal. Its whatever you want. The solitair engagement ring has been popular, but the diamond industry has marketed diamonds as “the engagement stone” but thats not true. If you have a grandmother or great grandmother they will tell you that back in the day all types, rubies, pearls anything can be an engagement ring Traditionally, diamonds were not considered the traditional engagement stone. Since the 1950’s or so DeBeers has marketed the diamond so well as an engagement ring that most people think that that is what you have to have. My grandmothers engagement rimg was an opal and that was all the rage in the 30’s. So go with what you want. You’re the one whos weraing it and its what it means to you!

   BTW- I don’t know if you’re in a relationship or not, but discuss what you want beforehand. If He get’s you ring that you don’t like you may really hurt his feelings. I had a friend whose ex-bf gave her a family heirloom thing that was not her taste exactly but ment alot to him and his family. He even drove across three states to get it from his grandmother, all along the way so excited to propose. Like the stupid girl she was, she totally acted mad that it wasn’t the one SHE wanted. needless to say his feelings were so hurt they ended up breaking up, because he saw how shallow she was. That was 10 years ago. She is now about 80lbs heavier and single. He is married to a wonderful lady now, whose has a 2 carat solitaire this girl had her heart set on. the family ring went to another brother. Moral of the story- It’s not about the ring

   The 3 stone ring is “considered” an anniversary ring. However, more and more jewelers are classifying it as an engagement ring too.

   I wanted a 3 stone ring for my engagement ring also…until I tried it on. It looked better in the pictures. If you have only seen it online, I URGE you to try on some rings before deciding. I still LOVE the three stone ring, but the ring I fell in love with was very different and more flattering.
